If you’ve ever wanted the opportunity (or maybe even the “excuse”) to include those words in a single sentence - whether bragging to your friends, or...well let’s just face it, is there any other reason to bring this up besides showing a little swagger? Here’s your chance!

Tri Fitness presents to you the “Half Fast Half Marathon” - Not only will you be able to truthfully use those words in a highly coveted sentence, but you’ll also receive an awesome shirt with the best catch-phrase around; when your friends ask what you did this weekend, proudly display your shirt and exclaim, “I ran Half Fast!”

Registration

  • REGISTER ONLINE  Once online registration has closed for 2015 you can still register in store at 1338 Hwy 96 E White Bear Lake

The race fees are as follows:

  • Half Marathon - $50  before 2/2, or $55 through 2/20, or $65 on race day
  • 10K - $40 before 2/2, or $45 through 2/20, or $55 on race day
  • 5K - $35 before 2/2, or $40 through 2/20, or $45 on race day

 

Every participant registering prior to February 7th will receive a long sleeve shirt.  These are UNISEX shirts, and may run a little bit large, so please order accordingly.

NOTE:  If you register within 14 days of the race date, you will NOT receive a race shirt.  We have made adjustments to the pricing of this race to reflect this.

Size chart - measure just under your arms, around your chest.  The shirts tend to run a little large, so if you're between sizes, you might want to go a size lower, but it's totally up to your individual preferences.

Packet Pick-up

Your race packet will include all the materials you need for your race, such as your timing chip and race bib, and some fun stuff like your complimentary race shirt and special offers.

Be sure to bring your race bib and timing chip on race day morning.  And please be sure to bring only the timing chip for this race; DO NOT wear a timing chip from a prior race, or it may interfere with your time for Half Fast, potentially not recording your effort.

Pick up your race packets at our retail store at 1340 Highway 96 East in White Bear Lake (get directions).

Race Location

We start and finish near Sak's Sports Bar in Vadnais Heights, MN (get directions).  The address is 1460 County Road E East, Vadnais Heights, MN  55110.

Parking on race day will be available within the parking lots adjacent to the restaurant, or in the parking lots for Vadnais Heights Sports Complex. Signs and volunteers will direct the participants and volunteers.

Course Profile

Fluid replacement (water and HEED) will be available at the Start/Finish lines for both races (both races begin and end at the same place), and will also be available at the turn-around (halfway) point of the 10k as well as every 3 miles for the ½ marathon.

Volunteers will be stationed throughout the course and at critical turns/areas.

 

Half Marathon Directions

Start on International Dr.

Turn right on Wolters/Willow Lake Blvd.

Turn right on Montgomercy St.

Turn left on English St.

Turn right on Willow Lake Blvd./Wolters Blvd.

Turn left onto Labore Rd.

Turn around at intersection of Labore Rd. and Labore Industrial Ct. (do not cross 694)

Run north on Labore Rd. and head toward Cty. Rd. E

Cross over Cty. Rd. E on Labore Rd.

Turn left on Goose Lake Rd. and go under 35E

Turn right on Centreville Rd. and get on bike trail

Keep running north, and run past Cty. Rd. F

Turn left at 4 way stop on Greenhaven Dr.

Turn right on Clearbrooke Ln.

Turn left on Greenhaven Dr.

Turn right on Springhill Rd.

Turn left on Westfield Ln. and merge onto Greenhaven Dr.

Turn right on Elizabeth Ln.

Turn right on N. Oak Dr. (this becomes Clover, beware of this area with narrowness)

Turn right on S. Oak Dr. (this becomes Oakcrest Dr.)

Turn left on Cty. Rd. F and follow to Centerville Rd.

Turn right on Centerville Rd. onto bike path

Turn left under 35E (Goose Lake Rd.) to Labore Rd. and take a right on Labore Rd.

Cross over Cty. Rd. E on Labore Rd.

Turn around at intersection of Labore Rd. and Labore Industrial Ct. (do not cross 694). This is the same place you turned around before.

Run north on Labore Rd. and then turn right onto Willow Lake Blvd.

Turn left on English St.

Awards and Prizes

Overall and age group winners for all races will receive gift certificates to Tri Fitness.  There will be finisher's medals for the Half Marathon.

Refund / Cancellation Policy

This policy has been created in fairness to all the athletes so that equal opportunity exists for registering for all Tri Fitness events.

Tri Fitness reserves the right to cancel or re-schedule an event in the event of inclement weather, emergency, or natural disaster.  In the event of such a cancellation, there will be no refund of entry or processing fees.   If Tri Fitness decides to cancel an event for reasons under our control, entry fees will be refunded to existing registrants.

There are no race transfers on race day, even if a registered athlete is a no-show and a slot is available.  This is to ensure that events start on time, for safety considerations and event management.

Severe Weather

There is a chance of inclement weather. The safety of our participants, volunteers, spectators, police and everyone else is our top priority, so we may need to make race-day adjustments.

The race director will have NOAA weather alerts via phone and walkie-talkie, and will monitor any severe weather alerts.  All volunteers will watch for lightning and alert the director immediately if they see it.  We will be following a 30-30 policy, which is: if we witness a flash of lightning, and hear thunder within 30 seconds, then we will delay the race by 30 minutes. Everyone should avoid any metal objects or tall, solitary objects and head to their car if possible. 

The roads will almost certainly be wet in that case.   Please watch for slick roads and standing water.

In the case of lightning during the course of the event, we may have to cancel and pull participants off the course. This will be the responsibility of the sag wagon and other volunteers as we can afford.   We will work to notfiy all participants currently on the course that the event is being canceled.

There are no refunds or transfers in the event we have to cancel the race, though we reserve the right to issue a transfer via email to registered participants. It is the absolute last option, but we have to have everyone's safety in mind.

Partial Refunds

Tri Fitness has a no refund policy.  If an athlete is unable to participate for any reason, their registration may be transferred to another participant at no additional charge.  For any transfers, please contact races@trifitnesswbl.com to update participant information.

Transfers

Under certain circumstances, race transfers can occur for an event within the same calendar year. A race transfer is defined as transferring an athlete’s registration to another race for any reason.

A race transfer can occur under the following conditions:

  • The request to transfer out of a race must be made 14 days or more prior to that scheduled event date.  No transfers will be allowed underneath this deadline unless there are extenuating circumstances.
  • Extenuating circumstances: If you have an injury (verified by a doctor's order) or a member of your immediate family has a death or a medical emergency and it is within 14 days of the scheduled event yet greater than 72 hours prior to the event, you will need to notify us in writing.  The race director will consider each request on a case by case basis after the event, for credit towards a future Tri Fitness event within the same calendar year.   No credits will be issued with less than 72 hours prior written notice to the event.
  • Transfers can be made to any race owned by Tri Fitness and list on our Events page.   Race transfers are only allowed once per person, per season.
  • Credit for the transfer will be based solely on the entry fee paid, and not inclusive of processing fees, etc.
  • If the race to which you are transferring has a higher entry fee as of the date of the transfer, you must pay the difference by making out a check to Tri Fitness.
  • There is a $5 fee to refund or transfer for any race and for any reason

Considerable effort goes into producing an event and funds are expended and applied in good faith based on a registration. Transferring two weeks out from an event can be managed, but under the two week limit a transfer causes considerable issues, both monetarily and organizationally as packets have been prepared with sized t-shirts, chip numbers have been requested based on the athlete’s entry, and perhaps a race has been closed in which a transfer would bar another athlete from entering the event.
