Overview

At Tri Fitness we try to provide an experience that defines much of what we do and love: a little bit of sweat and a lot of fun! The “Beat the Freeze Biathlon” offers a perfect mix of the two.

You’ll get the chance to sweat as you run, walk, snowshoe or cross country ski our course; The “Fun” comes in between laps as you take aim at various targets (not people) with paintball guns.*

*  Minimum age of 10 years for paint ball guns.  Parental guardian signed permission required if under 18 years.

Packet Pick-Up

Your race packet will include all the materials you need for your race, such as your timing chip and race bib, and some fun stuff like your complimentary race shirt and special offers.

Pick up your race packets at our retail store at 2193 4th Street in White Bear Lake (get directions).

 

Thursday, March 8th, 2012   10am-8pm


Friday, March 9th, 2012   10am - 6pm

 

 


 


Race Location

The race will be held at 5800 West Bald Eagle Blvd in White Bear Lake (get directions).  Parking on race day will be available within the neighborhoods near the course. Signs and volunteers will direct the participants and volunteers.

 


 

Schedule of Events

 

10:00 am - Parking areas open and race-day registration begins

10:55 am - Final course updates (near start line)

11:00 am - START OF BIATHLON!!!

There is no time limit - we’ll stay out until the last person finishes :)

 



Course Profile

This will probably be the flattest course you’ve ever run...it’s on the ice for goodness sakes!

The course is one mile long and shaped like a dented triangle. It begins by heading South for about ⅓ mile, turns and heads NE for another ⅓ mile, and then returns to the start for the last ⅓ mile.

Once runners return to the Start line, they’ll transition to the “shooting” area where each athlete will have the opportunity to try their marksmanship.  Successful attempts at hitting the target are met with thunderous applause; missed targets result in penalties - these might be physical in nature (navigating a small penalty loop before re-joining the course, push-ups, jump-squats, etc...) or time based (adding minutes/seconds to your running total).

Once runners have completed their tasks on the shooting range, its back out for another lap.
The entire course will be completed as such: run - shoot - run - shoot - run.

Fluid replacement (water and HEED) will be available at the start/transition area.
Volunteers are stationed in the shooting area and at critical turns/areas of the course.

 


 

Finish Area

The finish area, where spectators and finishers can gather, watch, cheer, etc... will be adjacent to the start/finish line.


Coffee and/or Hot chocolate will be provided to help everyone keep warm!


 


 

Awards and Prizes

Every participant receives a “Beat the Freeze” beanie to help keep the ol' noggin insulated.  No additional awards will be given - this is a “for fun” event!
